The Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is designed to offer participants practical training in language teaching, with some theoretical background in language and cultural awareness. This course is 8 weeks at 20 hours per week, 3 days per week and Students are expected to attend and participate in every session in a face-to-face mode of delivery. 

Students will develop skills for practical classroom teaching which will meet the minimum specialisation requirements for teaching English to speakers of other languages as required by the National English Language Teaching Accreditation Scheme (NEAS).  Assessment is highly integrated and is based on teaching practice, written assignments and demonstration of essential knowledge, eg of grammatical forms and functions, project work, assignments on lesson design, and through monitoring of lesson preparation and production of resources. 

Participants must fulfil the minimum requirement of six hours of supervised and assessed teaching practice, to conform to the requirements of the National English (Language Teaching) Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) for a TESOL qualification. Students undertake this teaching practice as an integrated component of the course. Successful completion of the course is dependent on students passing both written and practical components of the course.
